The Ionian Islands are the greenest part of Greece: hills of olive trees and cypresses sloping down to sheltered bays and almost unreal blue water. Distances are short and the sea is calmer than in the Aegean.
From Lefkada you reach Meganisi, Kalamos, Ithaca and the north coast of Kefalonia in a few hours, with villages such as Fiskardo and Kioni for dinner on the harbour.
Departures are from the D-Marin marina in Lefkada, half an hour from Preveza (Aktion) airport, with seasonal flights from across Europe.

When to go
The season runs from May to October. The afternoon breeze is regular and light, ideal even for first-timers. July and August are the liveliest months, June and September the quietest.
