The Ionian Islands are the greenest, most sheltered part of Greece: hops of a few miles, turquoise bays and villages where you dine on the harbour. Here is a seven-day itinerary starting and ending in Lefkada.
Day 1 – Lefkada
Embarkation in the afternoon at the D-Marin marina. Provisions already on board, first dinner in port or at anchor off Nidri.
Day 2 – Meganisi
An hour’s sail to the coves of Meganisi. Lunch at anchor and an evening in the village of Vathi.
Day 3 – Kalamos and Kastos
The quietest islands of the archipelago, with very few boats and white pebble beaches.
Day 4 – Ithaca
Odysseus’ island: the harbour of Vathi, the bay of Kioni and dinner on the quay.
Day 5 – Fiskardo, Kefalonia
Colourful Venetian houses, tavernas on the water and the best mooring of the week.
Day 6 – Porto Katsiki
Sail to the west coast of Lefkada to see one of the most famous beaches in Greece from the sea.
Day 7 – Return
A last swim and back to the marina; disembarkation is on Saturday morning.
Practical tips
- The nearest airport is Preveza (Aktion), 30 minutes from the marina.
- The afternoon breeze is regular and light: ideal even for first-timers.
- June and September are the quietest months.
